2011 budget: Reps threaten to delay passage

ABUJA - The House of Representatives yesterday, threatened to delay the 2011 budget until the 31 parastatal agencies forwarded their proposals to its various committees for scrutiny.

Section 21 of the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007, required that ministries, departments and agencies must lay their budgets before the National Assembly for appropriation.

Nafada had on March 1, warned all standing committees of the House to submit their reports on the budget of all MDAs under their oversight supervision to the Appropriation Committee by March 2.

Rep. Daniel Rayieneju (PDP-Delta), a member of the House committee on the Niger Delta, said the committee was yet to hold any meeting over the budget of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
