Vandalism: Task Force accuse NUPENG, PTD

Chairman of the Edo State Taskforce on Protection of Pipelines’ Vandalisation Committee, Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo, has accused some officials of the NNPC Benin Depot, particularly those of the NUPENG and PTD of involvement in pipelines vandalism and adulteration of petroleum products in the state.

Eriyo told newsmen that findings by his committee have shown that operators of the Benin depot are the brains behind what he termed ‘economic sabotage.’

"When you look properly, you will discover that this vandalism issue, most of the act is committed by most of the staff of NUPENG and PTD and that is the area we have to watch," he said.

"The people we are supposed to have relationship with are the same people supporting such act, and for that reason, I will prefer not to have any relationship with them so that the work will move the way it should be."

He alleged that "what they normally do is to get the fuel from the depot and take it elsewhere to adulterate."

But, Chairman of NUPENG, Comrade Godwin Asemota, debunked the allegations and urged Eriyo to provide evidence of its officials adulterating petroleum products.
