The governor of Abia state, Theodore Orji may have dropped Acho Nwakamma as his running mate in the 2011 governorship election.
A source within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gave the name of Mr Orji's running mate as Emeka Ananaba, from Ugwunagbo in Abia South. The development had therefore ended weeks of speculation on Nwakamma's stay in office beyond May 29, as he had been sworn in as deputy governor of the state on two different occasions. Mr Nwakamma served with former governor, Uzor Kalu after the death of Chima Nwafor in 2006.
The face-off between the immediate past deputy governor, Chris Akoma and the state governor which later led to the resignation of Mr Akoma enthroned Mr Nwakamma as deputy the deputy governor for the second time.
