Nigeria: Jonathan Denies Voting N2.9 Billion for South-West

Abuja — President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday spurned reports in the media that he has voted N2.9 billion to regain control of the South-West zone ahead of the April 2011 general polls, and stressed that it was "malicious, repugnant and has no factual basis".

Jonathan said he had "been busy touring all the states of the federation, including the South-West, in an all-out effort to win the hearts and minds of Nigerians in the traditional and politically-correct manner" and therefore, has absolutely no need "to resort to any underhand tactics to win the coming Presidential Elections".

The said news report published in a national daily newspaper (not LEADERSHIP) yesterday had alleged that already, "the take-over bid, code-named "South-West Project" for which N500 million has been released, has a coordinating team led by Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel"
