Nigeria, China: Power Station Handed Over To Consortium
Nigeria turned over on Feb. 15 the Olorunsogo power station in Ogun state to a consortium led by Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corporation of China and Nigeria’s Pacific Energy, This Day Live reported on Feb. 16. The move toward the Chinese company, made under the administration’s “power roadmap,” was tied to Nigeria’s inability to repay a loan by China for the construction of the plant. China provided 65 percent of the funding for the 335-megawatt (MW)-capacity Olorunsogo plant and the 335-MW-capacity Omo-tosho power station in Okitipupa, Ondo state.
