Tragedy struck in Ijosun town, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State yesterday when two persons were reportedly killed with many houses allegedly razed by people suspected to be ex-millitants. Besides, The Nation learnt that the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Samuel Oyegbemi, was abducted by the hoodlums, while his palace was reportedly burnt to ashes.
As at press time, the whereabouts of the monarch were unknown. The invasion of the town by the militants, according to sources, was linked with the mysterious death of a middle-aged man simply identified as Samuel. The man, who hailed from Arogbo Ijaw in Ese-odo Local Government, was said to be the father of one of the ex-militants.
The son, whose name has not been ascertained, was said to have contacted his colleagues who resolved to avenge the killing of the man and arrived the town at about 8.45 am yesterday in company with several restive youths.
