INEC Registers 65.2 Million Voters - Jega

Abuja — Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said it has so far registered 65.2 million voters, even as it expressed hope that the number will rise to 66 million when the last batch of the compilation would have been completed today.
INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega said this yesterday while playing host to the British Minister for Africa, Henry Bellingham and the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Lloyd who came on a courtesy visit.

Jega said Nigerians were ready for a positive change and that it has resulted in the massive turnout of prospective voters a situation he confessed even overwhelmed the electoral body.

"Nigerian people want a credible election and it seems that everybody now wants to get right, as a commission we have been doing our best to do the right thing in the last seven months when the new INEC came on board.
