INEC registers 38m Nigerians as at Jan 25

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it registered 38million  Nigerians as at January 25th.  Chairman of the Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega stated this at the weekend in Sokoto while speaking with journalists on the on-going voters registration exercise.

Jega  said  the average registration per day was increasing, noting that on the first day over  200,000 people were registered  but that as at January 25th,  over 4million Nigerians per day were being registered.

He noted that with the extension of the deadline for registration, they would be able to register every eligible Nigerian.  He said INEC had received all the 132,000 DDC machines and that all the polling units in the country had been covered.
