Former Vice-President Atiku Abubabar has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to annul the declaration of President Goodluck Jonathan as the winner of the January 13, 2011 Peoples Democratic Party presidential primary election.
Abubakar, who was a contestant in the primaries, said in a petition dated January 28 that the poll was not properly conducted and should be discountenanced by the electoral body. The petition was written by the Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Senator Ben Obi.
He said a report by his polling agent at the primaries, Alhaji Halilu Usman, alleged that the party leadership and the Presidency carefully planned and executed the manipulation of the presidential primary.
