The 21 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA) in Maiduguri , Borno State has recovered high-calibre ammunition in an abandoned vehicle in the bush on Maiduguri-Gamdoru-Ngala road in the state.
The ammunition found in the vehicle included General Purpose Machine guns, AK 47 rifles, 15 bags of bullets, explosives, rockets, and catridges.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Tanko Gaya, who displayed the ammunition seized by his men at the Brigade Headquarters in Maiduguri on Saturday, revealed that there was exchange of fire between men of the Operation Flush of the NA and some unknown gunmen on the Gamdoru-Ngala road in a Volkswagen Golf car with registration number Lagos FT 353 FFR.
He added that during the encounter with men of the Operation Flush, all the gunmen lost their lives, while three AK47s were recovered by his men.
Brig-Gen Gaya called on members of the public to assist his command with useful information that can lead to the arrest of those responsible for insecurity in the state.
