MEND Statement: Disclaimer 011911

(Stratfor) The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) denied a recent threat that an attack would be made on the downstream oil sector, despite the initial threat originating from their email address, using the same pseudonym, Jomo Gbomo, Reuters reported Jan. 19. MEND said it will investigate the threat and prevent it from happening again, adding, it will only issue statements claiming attacks once they have occurred.

Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D)

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D) denies in its totality the recent warning of an attack on the downstream oil sector being circulated in the media on 18 January, 2011.

We will be investigating the situation and will take appropriate actions to prevent this from reoccurring in the future.

We will like to reiterate that only when an attack has occurred will we send a statement of attacks and claims.
