No new projects for Niger Delta in Budget 2011

NO new project will be initiated by the Niger Delta Ministry next year, according to Budget 2011 estimates.

Rather, N53.4billion is projected to be spent on on-going project. N891 million has also been proposed for social and economic empowerment of the people of the region.

While the completion of the East-West road is captured in the budget, the much-expected railway project meant to link the interior of the region with other parts of the country did not receive any allocation.

The Ministry is also to spend N441,766,800 on travels and transport. N270,475,020 on material supplies like newspapers, office stationeries, magazines, printing of non-security materials, field and camping materials.

Maintenance of office and residential quarters, vehicles, furniture, office equipment and generators will cost N177,300,000 while local and international training will cost N157,743,432.

Of the N56,629,811,018 estimate, N53,400,001,680 is for capital expenditure, N3,299,809,338 for recurrent expenditure, while N2,402,206,877 is to be spent as overhead cost and N827,602,426 as personnel.
