Nigerian Foreign Minister Aliyu Idi Hong said his country is willing to allow the president of Cote d’Ivoire , Laurent Gbagbo, to go into exile in Nigeria , BBC reported Dec. 21. While his country recognizes Alassane Outtara as the winner of recent elections, he said, Nigeria will do whatever is possible to find a peaceful resolution to Cote d’Ivoire ’s current crisis.

More than 6,000 people have left Cote d’Ivoire and fled to Liberia with 200 more going to Guinea , U.N. refugee agency spokeswoman Adrian Edwards said, AP reported Dec. 20. Emergency supplies are being airlifted to help up to 30,000 people, but Edwards said that number is only a planning figure
