"Goodluck Jonathan' s government will not survive 2012", a former Minister in Former President,Olusegun Obasanjo' s government categorically told me, 8 days ago. Asked what inspires such dire predictions, the former powerful Minister said: the fuel subsidy will be its Waterloo . Every sector of the polity is mobilizing to confront the government on the issue, and he cannot back out now because he had committed the government to remove the fuel subsidy".
The fuel subsidy is not the only issue currently giving the present occupant of the Aso Villa sleepless nights. The Boko Haram insurgent terrorism currently ravaging the Northern Part of the country is proving to be intractable.
Violence blamed on the sect has steadily worsened in recent months, with bomb blasts becoming more frequent and increasingly sophisticated and death tolls climbing.
The attacks have continued despite well publicised raids on so-called bomb factories and arrests of a number of alleged Boko Haram members by authorities.
